Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray met with U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo today in Washington, D.C. to follow up on issues related to the bilateral relationship.

During their meeting, the Secretaries discussed the shared agenda on migration, security and trade, as well as regional issues related to Central America and the situation in Venezuela.

At the end of the meeting, Secretary Videgaray emphasized that Mexico will continue to hold a constructive and open view in order to overcome differences, face shared challenges and reach agreements while always safeguarding the national interest, sovereignty and the dignity of all Mexicans.

Secretary Videgaray also announced that the second Conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America would be held in Washington, D.C. in the next few weeks and that the Mexican and U.S. governments would act as co-hosts.

The meeting between the two Secretaries reaffirms the readiness of the Mexican government to deepen the bilateral dialogue to benefit our country.
