Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray is attending the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) – China forum in Santiago, Chile.

He is attending the forum, whose first meeting was held in January 2015 in Beijing, China, because the forum represents one of the most important opportunities for cooperation with CELAC partners outside of Latin America. The Foreign Ministers will review the progress made since the forum's creation and discuss how to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of experiences between parties.

Trade and investment between China and the region have deepened in recent years. Currently, the Latin American and Caribbean region is the second most important destination for Chinese investments after Asia, while China has become the region's second largest trading partner.
