Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray presided today over the 11th meeting of the Advisory Board of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID). The 2017 results of Mexico's international development cooperation policy were presented and the main areas of focus for 2018 were discussed.

Foreign Secretary Videgaray highlighted the importance of Central America and the Caribbean as priority regions for the cooperation offered by Mexico to its partners and he stressed its strategic value as an instrument for promoting Mexico's development.

AMEXCID Executive Director Agustín García-López presented the agency's 2017 report containing the main results of its cooperation and promotion projects which totaled 595 in all:  268 offered to other countries and 327 that benefited Mexico. In addition, priority 2018 federal cooperation projects for third countries were reviewed, including: Mesoamerica Without Hunger, the comprehensive disaster risk management strategy for the Caribbean and cooperation projects to eradicate poverty in the Northern Triangle. Progress was also made in rebuilding the historical heritage that was damaged by last September's earthquakes.

In compliance with Presidential Instruction 268, AMEXCID presented the new Catalog of Mexican Cooperation Capacities, available online, which currently includes 110 good public policy practices that can be shared and linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The AMEXCID Advisory Board is chaired by the Foreign Secretary and includes the representatives of 18 State Secretaries, the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (CDI). The board makes recommendations on the International Development Cooperation Program (PROCID) and on AMEXCID's projects and programs.
