The world must see this day as an opportunity to communicate the importance of cancer prevention and early detection. The UN reports that over 60% of cancer cases and 70% of deaths worldwide occur in Africa, Asia and Central and South America.

In 2012 alone, the WHO recorded 8.2 million new cases. It estimates that this figure may rise to 22 million over the next two decades.

The world can cope better with cancer with organization and information. It is time to act and make commitments, however small and personal they may seem. "I can" make a difference.
