President Peña Nieto is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a State visit as part of his Middle East tour (#MéxicoEnMedioOriente). The visit is of historical significance because it is the first by a Mexican president in 40 years. It’s goal is to attract investments that strengthen growth, productivity and prosperity in Mexico.

While in UAE, President Peña Nieto will attend the World Future Energy Summit, sign various cooperation agreements on energy issues, visit the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology and attend the Mexico-United Arab Emirates Business Forum.

In Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince, gave a dinner in honor of President Peña Nieto.

At the Mexico-UAE Business Forum in Dubai, the President was accompanied by Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu, where they highlighted the structural changes being made by both countries.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum and President Enrique Peña Nieto held a meeting to discuss regional and international issues, and attended the signing ceremony for ten agreements and memoranda of understanding between Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. A tourism agreement was signed by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Foreign Secretary Ruiz Massieu, who also signed a memorandum of understanding with Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development.
