Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard met today at the Foreign Ministry with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, who was in Mexico from January 19-20. This was the third meeting between the two officials. Minister Szijjártó was accompanied by senior officials of the Hungarian government and parliament.

The two officials reviewed the bilateral agenda, with an emphasis on the political dialogue, cooperation and the economic relationship, and discussed global and regional issues.

While in Mexico, Minister Szijjártó visited Tepoztlán, Morelos, to participate in the ceremony marking the completion of the restoration work done on the Church and Former Convent of the Nativity and the rehabilitation of the Carlos Pellicer Prehispanic Art Museum, the result of bilateral cooperation between Mexico and Hungary.

Mexico is Hungary's second largest trading partner on the continent, after the United States. Bilateral trade in 2022 was approximately two billion dollars.
