Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray will travel to Havana, Cuba on Friday, August 18 to deepen bilateral cooperation and the political and economic ties.

Foreign Secretary Videgaray will hold a meeting with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez to discuss the most important bilateral issues, including the progress made on the commitments agreed to during President Raúl Castro's State visit to Mexico in 2015 and the outcome of the fifth regularly-scheduled meeting for bilateral political consultations held in Havana on August 3.

The Foreign Secretary will be accompanied by Bancomext Director General Francisco González; the Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Socorro Flores Liera; and AMEXCID Executive Director Agustín García López.

Cuba is Mexico's third largest trading partner in the Caribbean. In 2016, bilateral trade totaled USD 334 million, exports were USD 324 million, and imports were USD 9 million.
