The first high-level bilateral security meeting was held at the State Department in Washington, D.C., based on respect for the sovereignty of our countries and a commitment to security cooperation and community protection. The meeting proved very positive in advancing the security of both countries under the principles of shared responsibility, mutual trust, cooperation without subordination, and respect for sovereignty. The discussions covered illicit drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and the exchange of intelligence and investigative information.
The Mexican delegation included Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente; Secretary of Security and Civil Protection Omar García Harfuch; Secretary of Defense General Ricardo Trevilla; Secretary of the Navy Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales; Attorney General Alejandro Gertz Manero; Mexican Ambassador to the United States Esteban Moctezuma; Marcela Figueroa, Executive Secretary of the National Public Security System; and Chief Officer for North America Roberto Velasco.
The U.S. government delegation included Secretary of State Marco Rubio; Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth; Attorney General Pam Bondi; Troy Edgar, Senior Homeland Security Advisor; Ambassador Michael Kozak, Acting Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs; Katherine Dueholm, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Mexico and Canada at the State Department; Mauricio Claver-Carone, Special Envoy for the Americas at the State Department; Mark Johnson, Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico; and Ricardo Pita, Senior Advisor for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the State Department.
