Senasica moved a mobile laboratory to the iconic Supply Center of Mexico City (Central de Abastos, CEDA, by its Spanish acronym) to analyze samples of fresh vegetables and infrastructure, in order to detect microorganisms harmful to human health and provide greater safety guarantees to consumers.
This Senasica mobile laboratory, which has the capacity to process 30 samples per day, will be periodically at the Supply Center, as part of the actions carried out within the framework of the pilot program for food safety.
The main objective of the pioneering project is to promote optimal hygienic-sanitary practices for the handling of fresh vegetables, thus reducing the risks of physical, chemical and microbiological contamination during the post-harvest and sales cycle.
It should be noted that food safety is an issue that involves producers, marketers and consumers, since only through hygienic handling of products it is possible to reduce the risk of transmission of pathogens such as Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella and Escherichia coli O157.
