Mexico occupies the 15th position as pork meat producer worldwide and the 13th position in apple production. However, in order to prevent shortage problems, these products are imported from other countries.

To prevent the introduction of pests and diseases that could damage the national health status, SENASICA examines and certifies that every good entering to Mexican territory comply with the necessary health requirements.

Regarding every country health status, it is important to ensure a safe marketing of animal and plant products. Therefore, Mexico establishes health protocols with their counterparts, so they comply with the health and safety requirements for foreign suppliers.

As part of the overall strategy to expand the commercial exchange with other countries, SENASICA performed some arrangements with Germany resulting in the first German pork meat cargo arriving to the Port of Veracruz. Furthermore, to ensure apple supply without affecting consumers’ pocket, we have alternate markets such as Argentina, Canada, Chile, China, Portugal and South Africa.
