Mexico City, January 28, 2016.- The Departments of National Defense and Navy inform the public that this day, General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, Secretary of National Defense and Admiral Vidal Francisco Soberon Sanz, Secretary of the Navy, finished a working trip to the Republic of Peru.
Both Secretaries joined the President of the Republic of Peru and his Minister of Defense at the Marginal Shipyard on Callao Naval Base, where the commissioning ceremony of the Tall Ship “Union” was held.
The ceremony began with the raising of the National Flag of the Tall Ship “Union”, following a liturgical ceremony and the appointment of the vessel commander. The event concluded with the Peruvian Navy hymn.
Subsequently, the President of the Republic of Peru visited the Tall Ship “Union” along with civil authorities, members of Armed Forces and guests.
Through these actions, the National Defense and Navy Departments contribute to foster the presence of Mexico abroad, tightening fraternal relationship with friendly nations.
