Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, Secretary OF Economy concluded his working visit of two days to Toronto, Canada, where he participated in the Second Edition of the "2014 North American Competitiveness and Innovation Conference" (NACIC). He was accompanied by the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Francisco de Rosenzweig and the Ambassador, Francisco Suárez Dávila.

Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, Secretary OF Economy concluded his working visit of two days to Toronto, Canada, where he participated in the Second Edition of the "2014 North American Competitiveness and Innovation Conference" (NACIC). He was accompanied by the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Francisco de Rosenzweig and the Ambassador, Francisco Suárez Dávila.

While in Toronto, the Secretary Ildefonso Guajardo attended a breakfast organized by the Canadian Council Chief Executives (CCCE), an organization that brings together executives from leading Canadian companies.

In the event, he referred to economic reforms promoted by the government of President Enrique Peña Nieto and the contribution of these to increase the competitiveness of Mexico and North America.

As part of this visit, the Secretary Guajardo met with their counterparts in the US and Canada, Penny Pritzker and Edward Fast, respectively, to address priority issues of the economic agenda of Mexico with those countries.

Also, the Secretary Guajardo Villarreal and his counterparts from Canada and the United States held a private meeting, which reviewed the progress of works that agencies of the three governments made in 2014 under the Work Plan for the North American Competitiveness, and they proposed new actions to be included in such plan for 2015.

The head of the Secretariat of Economy also participated, along with his counterparts from North America, at a luncheon organized by the CCCE, which dealt, among others matters, the economic perspectives for the region, the share of North America in the global production processes and the major challenges facing the region in the current international economic context.

During lunch, the Secretary Guajardo announced that the next edition of the North American Competitiveness and Innovation Conference will take place in Mexico, and he expressed the commitment of the Secretariat of Economy about contributing to actions to strengthen the productive integration of North America, on behalf of the companies in the three countries.
