The Secretariat of Economy of Mexico and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland signed a Memorandum of Understanding which aims to build a framework for further collaboration on innovation, science and technology and to support the sustainable partnerships and economic growth.

Before His Royal Highness, Charles, Prince of Wales, who attended as a witness of honor, the Secretary of Economy said that his visit marks the start of the relaunch of a new relationship between Mexico and the United Kingdom. "You had the opportunity to feel, personally, the entrepreneurial strength of the Mexican youth, not just those who have dreams to start their own business but those who want to change the social reality," he said.

The Head of Economy, who served as witness of honor too, said that this agreement is primarily to unite efforts between Mexico and the United Kingdom, to achieve more than 500 million pesos in order to focus on innovation and entrepreneurship.

In that sense, he added, "they will do investigations to practice and in the application of engineering supported in eight key areas: health, energy and complex manufacturing, automotive and aerospace, in cities of the future, public infrastructure, sanitation and water distribution, technology and computer databases for agriculture, fishing, forestry and the environment".

He stressed that this signature comes after Monday's announcement from the President of Mexico and the Prince of Wales, who stated that 2015 will be the dual year Mexico-United Kingdom, where the main stage will be taken as "Mexico in the heart of the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom in the heart of Mexico”, he expressed.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness, Charles, Prince of Wales, said that this approach is relevant when businesses are related with the communities in various areas, particularly in collaboration with young people.

"Both countries can cooperate in two ways: we can learn from you, and you can learn something from us." he said.

By Mexico, the signing took place by the President of the National Institute of the Entrepreneur, Henry Jacob Rocha, and the British Ambassador in Mexico, Duncan John Rushworth Taylor.

This memorandum of understanding will also promote the capacity for research and innovation of the institutions in Mexico to ensure its sustainable growth in order to expand and maximize cooperation between government agencies, research organizations, higher education institutions, businesses and large companies.

Prior to the signing of the Memorandum, the Secretary of Economy and His Royal Highness, Charles, Prince of Wales, Her Royal Highness, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the governor of Nuevo León, Rodrigo Medina, toured the Fundidora Park where they appreciated dance, crafts, sweets and traditional cuisine.
