By participating in the Mexico-Spain Business Forum, the Secretary of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, said that, “we know, both countries, that free trade leads to competitiveness and contributes decisively to the expansion of the markets and benefit equally to businesses and consumers”. He stressed that “Mexico and Spain have made a strategic decision to continue integrating ourselves into the international markets”. He added that, as a result of that, both nations are among the top 20 world economies worldwide for its international trade.

The opening ceremony of this Forum was chaired by the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, and the King of Spain, Philip VI, accompanied by their respective wives Angélica Rivera and Queen Letizia. There were also present the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, José Antonio Meade, and by Spain, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García-Margallo, among others.
