Following the meeting chaired last 7 April, by the Secretary of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, on last Wednesday was held a working meeting with the Mining Sector to give continuity to the agreements in order to improve the operating conditions of that sector.

On this occasion, representatives of business organizations and companies that generate about 95 percent of the mining production in the country, including the Mining Chamber of Mexico (CAMIMEX, by its initials in Spanish), the National Chamber of Industry of Iron and Steel (CANACERO, by its initials in Spanish) and the Association of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico, A.C. (AIMMGM), were received by Mario Alfonso Cantú Suárez, General Coordinator of Mines of the Secretariat of Economy; and the General Commissioner of the Federal Police, Enrique Galindo Francisco Ceballos.

At the meeting, participants agreed to strengthen the channels of service and information exchange that have worked before between the industrial impresarios of the sector and the authorities, in order to meet the overall situation and the particular cases that arise at different times of productive process.

Derived from the above, the lines of work to be developed in a coordinated way, were defined between representatives of the mining sector and the various authorities, in order to achieve results in the short, medium and long term.

The Government of the Republic, through the Secretariat of Economy and the National Security Commission of the Federal Police, reaffirms its commitment to follow up on requests for support to this sector of great importance for creating jobs and attracting investments to our country.
