The Secretary of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, participates in the Meeting of Ministers of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), held from 29 September to 2 October 2015 in the city of Atlanta, Georgia.

During the morning agenda, the Secretary Guajardo held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the US, Vietnam and Canada, with whom he shared views on various bilateral issues and negotiation as a whole.

Also, the Head of the Secretariat of Economy met in plenary format with his TPP counterparts. The Secretary Guajardo reaffirmed the willingness of Mexico to find balance and show flexibility to achieve convergence and complete the process.

As in previous meetings, the Secretary Guajardo Villarreal met with representatives of the Mexican productive sector accompanying the government in the negotiation with the "room next door", to whom he briefed them on the start of the initial negotiations and meetings he held with other Ministers.

The TPP is currently the most important worldwide negotiation for its level of ambition, the wide range of disciplines it includes as well as the high standards it intends to establish in each trade of them.

The 12 economies participating in the Agreement represent a quarter (25%) of the global trade, more than a third of the global GDP (36%) and they also capture more than a quarter (28%) of the Foreign Direct Investment worldwide. Mexico participates in the TPP negotiations since December 2012.
