The most recent data (2016) shows that in Mexico heart diseases represent the leading cause of death, responsible for 19.9% of total deaths. Acute myocardial infarction concentrates a high percentage of these deaths

Since the time between the onset of symptoms and the medical care of the myocardial infarction determines the prognosis, the general population, especially those who are more susceptible, must have information that allows them to reduce the risk factors, identify the symptoms and know what to do and where to go to receive timely medical attention.

Symptoms of heart attack include: chest pain that feels like intense pressure, plus difficulty breathing, cold sweating, nausea, vomiting, and fainting.

If you present these symptoms, you could have a heart attack. Go immediately to your nearest doctor for care.

To prevent acute myocardial infarction and cardiovascular diseases in general, the recommendations are:

Healthy diet, perform physical activity, maintain or achieve adequate body weight, quit smoking, avoid harmful alcohol consumption, control blood pressure, avoid stress.
