The migrants who cross through national territory, are a vulnerable group that requires attention, care and protection of the Mexican State; However, there is a social stigma that because of their status as displaced persons, there is a risk of disease transmission, without any scientific evidence on this.

In an effort to reduce the stigma towards migrant caravans, Mexico supports policies aimed at providing health care services with the promotion of health, prevention and timely detection of diseases as wells as vaccination against influenza and diphtheria toxoid.

The timely access to health care of Central American migrants by the Secretary of Health, regardless of their status, allows the rapid cure of those who have a condition.

Other measures of comprehensive care offered to members of the caravans, are diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, carried out by doctors in the Health Sector 24 hours a day in medical units disposed for the migrants, and that prevents them from endangering the patient's life.
