Compared to the rest of the population, a pregnant woman has up to six times more risk of suffering respiratory complications or even die from the influenza virus, therefore it is very important to apply the influenza vaccine.

The physiological changes that women present during pregnancy make them more vulnerable and prone to infections.

Because of this, it is necessary to be vaccinated against influenza, regardless of the quarter of pregnancy in which they are, as the biological is safe and harmless for the product.

The vaccine not only does not affect the fetus, the antibodies generated by the patient after receiving the immunization pass through the placenta protecting the fetus, which decreases the risk that at birth can get an infection during the first weeks of life.

In the event that a woman becomes infected with influenza during pregnancy, she should receive immediate medical attention, including treatment with oseltamivir, the medication used to treat influenza that has no effect on fetal health.
