The disorder by accumulation of objects and even animals, can be a mechanism of defense to the outside, due to a deep depressive state. Often this disorder is the result of someone else, such as the obsessive compulsive, anxiety or obsessive, major, and that can occur after the loss of a loved one or possessions.

Characteristics:

People who like to keep things (crowded and cluttered), in common areas of the home, such as the living room, bathroom and hallways. Objects lack current value as magazines or newspapers and, in extreme cases, accumulate animals, although these pets do not receive the attention they require.

The age of onset of this condition is between 11 and 15 years of age. Children begin to accumulate cracked or cracked pencils, useless notebooks or magazines, and show difficulty in getting rid of their belongings and even bother if someone touches the stored objects.

Symptoms of accumulation may be mild or severe.

The problem of accumulation can also lead to inadequate hygiene, do not use the bathroom or kitchen, and eat on the street. All this could lead to obesity.

What to do?

Convince the person to assist with a psychologist, in order that, through therapy, decrease this behavior because otherwise they will have to medicate.

The accumulators should not be confused with collectors, however, the difference is that the latter have several objects of the same category, organized, clean and in a place that does not interfere with daily life.

In some cases, obsessive compulsive disorders have suffered from childhood, but become evident until adulthood. Although the symptoms may disappear, they persist in most patients and may change over time.
