Consolidated purchases of medicines are an effective strategy to reduce their prices, both by the volume of acquisition and by the measures that are established to encourage competition among those who participate in the tenders.

According to the Undersecretary of Integration and Development of the Health Sector, doctor Asa Cristina Laurell, the real-time control system of the entire supply and distribution cycle of medicines is being built, which takes into account the needs of the states for the consolidated purchase.

During his participation in the meeting headed by the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer Varela, with members of the Health Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, doctor Asa Cristina Laurell pointed out that the supply of medicines is one of the problems that are being solved in Mexico.

She also affirmed that one of the commitments of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is to end corruption, so in terms of health, a new scheme is being worked out so that resources are allocated exclusively to improve the health conditions of the population.

Every day, she added, there are complaints from those who try to access medical services, workers in difficult conditions, with irregular job situation, without supplies and medicines. There are 251 hospitals with interrupted or abandoned works.

It should be noted that the current administration is working on a systematic process to know in what conditions the health services are located and to be able to draw up a plan for their improvement in the short and medium term.
