At the Regional Higher Specialty Hospital of Ixtapaluca (HRAEI) in Mexico, was presented a follow-up study for pregnant women living in Amecameca, State of Mexico; An investigation that will generate knowledge that will have an impact on the reduction of maternal deaths in the country.

The type of study - a cohort - consists of a follow-up in the time of 2700 women from the first trimester of pregnancy and until the moment of the birth, through the application of questionnaires and sampling.

With this information, molecular aspects such as preeclamsia markers, gestational diabetes, social violence such as violence in pregnancy, access to health services, pregnancy in adolescents and others can be evaluated from risk factors.

The study will have an intense recruitment phase, quarterly follow up and will end each year, for a period of three years. In order to invite women to participate, researchers have collaborated with private laboratories, who provide study information.

The "Cohort of Pregnant Women of the Amecameca Sanitary Jurisdiction" will generate information to contribute to the national policy for the reduction of maternal mortality.
