This week, the citizen participation platform @yosoymexicano will be run by Sinaloan fashion designer Jehsel Lau. Learn more about her career: 

Jehsel Lau is originally from Culiacan, Sinaloa  and studied International Trade. From a very early age, she has been involved in social projects and has always been linked to everything related to education and the transmission of values and experiences.

She won a scholarship to  pursue a master’s in costume design and technology at the University of Arizona. She was also a finalist in the ELLE Mexico Design’s Contest in 2013 and the winner of the Downy Fashion Award.

She defines herself as an “Art Director specializing in creating beauty and aesthetic harmony through design.” She has her own eponymous brand: Jehsel Lau ® Outlier Fashion, and is a representative of Slow-Fashion, which seeks customization and constant innovation in fashion. She has collaborated with companies such as Balletto di Roma and the Amazonas Opera Festival in Brazil.

In 2014, she received the “Exemplary Sinaloan in the World" award, which she regards as an honor as well as a responsibility for representing Mexico in the world.
