El President Enrique Peña Nieto inaugurated Tulancingo General Hospital, which will benefit approximately 600,000 people in this region of the state of Hidalgo and neighboring states.

“The government’s special mission is to create a basic floor of well-being for the population."

The Pilot Program for the Integral Care Model is being implemented in Tulancingo General Hospital, and the states of Durango, Guanajuato and Yucatán.

This model has a continuous communication system between the General Hospital and health centers, with an emphasis on complicated cases, sometimes even providing follow-up in the patient's home.

Once a person is discharged from hospital, the health jurisdiction is informed, so that doctors at the health center go to the patient’s home to provide follow-up or provide a specialist’s assessment.

The comprehensive care model is linked to tertiary hospitals in Mexico City, to refer patients when required.

The government has issued indications for this model be replicated throughout the country, so that by the end of this administration, there will be at least one General Hospital with the Comprehensive Care Model in each state.

“So with innovative models, we are eliminating the barriers that prevent Mexicans from exercising their right to health.”
