President Enrique Peña Nieto inaugurated the BioMimicTechnological Cluster in Xalapa, Veracruz, a consortium of public and private investment to promote scientific and technological development.

In the government, our aim is to turn Mexico into a knowledge society.

Therefore, during the first three years of this administration, federal spending on science and technology has exceeded 239.2 billion pesos, equivalent to twice the amount invested during the same period in the last federal administration.

Realizing that this is a priority, although 2016 will be a year of austerity, the investment in science and technology proposed in the Expenditure Budget of the Federation totals approximately 90.923 billion pesos, five billion more than the amount proposed for this year.

These investments will cover all the stages of knowledge development: from basic research to its application in productive activities.

Through these resources, Mexico strengthens its infrastructure, human capital and scientific capabilities to achieve greater prosperity.
