The Child and Youth Orchestra of Mexico marked the first twelve years of its career with its 22nd national tour, giving a concert in Iztapalapa, in Mexico City.
That venue was chosen because a system of community musical groups will be launched there by the CONACULTA National System of Musical Promotion and the authorities in that borough.
One goal is to demonstrate how an area where the social fabric has deteriorated can be rebuilt through these projects and ideas.
The orchestra comprises children of exceptional talent. Through an annual contest, the OSIM brings together 160 children and youth from across the country in an intensive study camp involving 80 hours of work with specialized teachers in each of the symphonic instruments.
