The president swore in Dr. Hernández Martínez and instructed him to continue with the implementation of Energy Reform, related to the electricity sector and to continue restructuring the CFE to strengthen its competitiveness.
The CFE director will ensure the continuity of the service in the National Electric System and expand its coverage to isolated communities, through the use of new technologies.
Jaime Francisco Hernandez Martinez was previously CFO of CFE.
He holds a PhD in political economy from the Department of Government at the University of Essex, in the UK, and a master’s in political economy from the same university. He completed a BA in Economics at the National Polytechnic Institute and studied law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Dr. Hernández Martínez has been a member of the Governing Board of the National Council of Science and Technology, the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, and several development banking institutions. He also collaborated in the Technical Secretariat of the Economic Cabinet and the Coordination of the President’s Economic and Social Policy Advisors.
