Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Agenda, approved by the 193 member countries of the United Nations in 2015, the Mexican Youth Institute and its allies are looking for best-practices developed by young Mexicans between 15 and 29 years of age and who contribute decisively to compliance with the SDGs.

Objectives:

To position youth within the international agenda, highlighting their active and decisive participation towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

• Identify the best practices that contribute to the implementation, monitoring and follow-up of the Sustainable Development Goal

• Recognize, support and disseminate best-practices developed by young people or the young people themselves that are working towards SDG achievement

• Obtain practical evidence for the second National Report of Voluntary Review on the follow-up of the SDGs that the Mexican State will present this year domestically and abroad

A. Registration, requirements, and documents

Send your application and documentation (in PDF format, no more than 3 MB per document), in Spanish or English (the abstract or executive summary of the best-practice must be submitted in English and Spanish) through the platform: encuentrointernacional2018.imjuventud.gob.mx

The documents must be written in Arial or Times New Roman, line spacing 1.5 with margins of 2.5.

Best-practice or notable experience:

The Best-practice should contribute to the fulfillment of one or more objectives of the SDGs, be it a project in execution or one that has already been executed that benefits young people between 12 and 29 years of age. Maximum 6 pages (including graphics, tables and bibliography), including:

1. Name of the practice, action or project

2. Executive summary (maximum 300 words) It should include: title of the practice; problem or identified social need; objectives; brief description of the notable practice or experience, geographical area of intervention; target population; results or contributions of the practice and keywords.

3. Theme or scope of intervention

4. Problem or identified social or environmental need

5. Diagnosis of the problem

6. General objective and specific objectives of the practice or experience of public action

7. Geographic area of intervention

8. Target population (age, characteristics of the group)

9. Description of the action or project (actions that are carried out, stages, models, participants, mechanism of action)

10. Financing scheme of the action or project

11. Partnerships for its implementation

In the development of the document, you must describe how the attributions of this best-practice is presented in terms of:

• Relevance – The best practice responds to specific and clearly identified needs. In addition to being based on evidence.

• Effectiveness – The best practice has demonstrated its strategic relevance as the most effective means to obtain a specific objective, has been successfully adopted and has had a positive impact on individuals and / or communities.

• Efficiency and impact – The best practice means the achievement of its objectives based on the best use of the resources available to carry it out.

• Sustainability - To be considered a "best practice" it must meet current needs, in particular the essential needs of those in a disadvantaged situation, without compromising the ability to meet future needs.

• Innovation & Replicability – The exercise of the practice favors the formulation of new ideas and acts as a guide for other actions. In short, it is potentially replicable and adaptable to other contexts where similar objectives are sought.

Send the URL link of an unedited and complete video with a duration that does not exceed 3 minutes. All members and parties involved in the development of the best-practice should participate in the video.

The video can be recorded in Spanish. It should include a brief introduction to the practice or research, results and impact. It is recommended to include the results of the best-practice. It should be publicly available on YouTube.

It is very important that the following recommendations are met:

• DO NOT upload video as "private," as it will be considered an incomplete file

Imagination and creativity will be valued. If you do not have a camera, you can use your phones.

The video proposal is the responsibility of its author and must be unedited. Any candidate who does not comply with these characteristics or where plagiarism is found will be disqualified.

B. Selection Committee

The election of participants will be carried out through a Selection Committee formed speci‑cally for this call for applications.

Only complete dossiers of applicants will be reviewed. The methodology and deciding criteria will be proposed by the Selection Committee.

The decision of the Selection Committee will be unappealable. Any case not considered within this call will be resolved at the discretion of the Selection Committee.

The Selection Committee reserves the right to set the number of participants.

C. Participation

The application can be individual or by a collective; however, a representative (legal age) must be chosen to register on the platform and to represent the group at the “International Forum: Youth towards 2030. Innovation to transformation”.

The expenses for participation in the “International Forum: Youth towards 2030. Innovation to transformation” (support for domestic transport, accommodation and meals according to the agenda) of the author or representative of the selected practice will be borne by the organizers. Expenses not indicated in this call for applications will be borne by each applicant/selected participant. Visa, passport and airport taxes are not covered.

Likewise, the authors will allow for the dissemination of their studies, results, conclusions or methodologies in instances of discussion or training, with the due protection of their intellectual property and copyright.

D. Winning Prizes

The best-practices that are selected will receive financial support to continue implementing actions that contribute to compliance with the SDGs. In addition, the author or representative (must be of legal age) of the group that has developed the best-practice will be sponsored to participate in the “International Forum: Youth towards 2030. Innovation to transformation” that will be held in September in Acapulco, Mexico.

F. Social Comptroller

Social Comptrollership is legally based on the rights of information, of petition, of association and of participation in various sectors of society for the democratic planning of national development, which are embodied in the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, in the General Law of Social Development, and the Guidelines for the promotion and operation of the Social Comptroller.

This figure is a form of social organization constituted by beneficiaries of the social development programs, with the aim of promoting their knowledge about government actions; involve them in the monitoring of services, programs and policies; and promote their active participation to improve government work.

Therefore, beneficiaries of this call for applications have the responsibility to be part of the Social Comptroller, so they can be called upon for this activity and develop as a main objective:

"Monitor the correct usage of the federal resources for the implementation of this project, under the provisions established in this call for applications, once the benefi­ciaries have been selected according to the criteria established by the Selection Committee."
