• 18 ambassadors and Mexico’s Representative to the OECD are ratified
  • Ratifications for the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC) and the North American Development Bank (NADB)

The Foreign Ministry expresses its appreciation to the Senate for the ratification of Mexico’s ambassadors to Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Finland, Guatemala, Holy See, Hungary, Israel, Morocco, Norway, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, St. Lucia, Switzerland and Turkey, as well as the Permanent Representative to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The heads of 98% of Mexico’s diplomatic offices around the world—a total of 155 diplomatic missions and consular representations—have now been ratified. Furthermore, today’s ratifications strengthen gender equality in Mexico’s diplomatic offices abroad by increasing the number of women from 28 to 32.

Various legal instruments related to foreign policy were also ratified in today’s session, including agreements, treaties and protocols, with special mention to the convention to avoid double taxation and prevent tax fraud and evasion, and the second protocol of amendment to the agreement between the United States and Mexico concerning the establishment of a Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC), and a North American Development Bank (NADB), which integrates the two institutions to create a stronger binational organization for high-impact environmental projects on the northern border.
