The Foreign Ministry announces that it will submit to the Senate the appointment of Dr. Edgar Elías Azar as Ambassador of Mexico.

In accordance with diplomatic practice, the Netherlands government has been asked to grant recognition to the Mexican diplomat, and the appointment will go to the Senate for its consideration in the near future, together with other presidential appointments for various representations of Mexico abroad.

Edgar Elías Azar holds a PhD in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and is a PhD candidate in Law from the Universidad Anáhuac del Norte. He holds a Master’s degree in Conflict Management and Resolution from the School of Continuing Education of the University of Barcelona; Master’s degrees in Law and Civil Contracts from the Iberoamericana University; a Master’s degree in Constitutional Law and Amparo from the American University of Acapulco, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid. He obtained his undergraduate degree in the School of Law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

He has served in the public sector as the Finance Secretary of the state government of Guerrero. He has 51 years of service in judicial posts, including Judge of the Fifth and First Civil Chambers of the Mexico City Supreme Court of Justice. In 2008, he was elected President of the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico City and, in 2013, President of the National Commission of Supreme Courts of Justice of Mexico.
