Today, during his visit to Spain, Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray Caso was the keynote speaker at Foro América, organized by the Europa Press news agency for business executives, opinion leaders, journalists and those interested in Mexico.  

The Foreign Secretary discussed the foundations and the strengths of the Mexican economy, Mexico’s competitive advantages and the biggest economic, commercial and trade opportunities for the future with Spain and the rest of the world.

Subsequently, Foreign Secretary Videgaray met with the Spanish Minister of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, Luis de Guindos, to discuss the world economic situation.  

He also met with Spanish business executives to discuss the broad range of possibilities that exist to continue deepening the commercial ties between both countries.

The Spanish business executives reiterated their confidence in Mexico and their commitment to maintain and increase their investments there, as they believe Mexico to be the best country to invest in after Spain.

In the afternoon, the Foreign Secretary met with Ibero-American Secretary General Rebeca Grynspan to discuss both the regional situation given the current international scenario, and cooperation projects in Central America to create educational and job opportunities for the youths there.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Foreign Secretary visited the Mexican embassy and saw the photo exhibit commemorating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Spain being shown in the Mexican Cultural Institute in Spain.

Lastly, he met with the embassy staff to prepare for the Binational Commission meeting.
