Eighty-one naturalization certificates were given to new Mexican citizens at a ceremony in the Foreign Ministry; they pledged to fulfill their duties and obligations as citizens.

On behalf of Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Dr. Natalia Saltalamacchia, Director General of the Matías Romero Institute, warmly welcomed the participants and invited them to contribute—with their cultures and backgrounds—to Mexico’s multiculturalism. Israel Soberanis, the Foreign Ministry’s Director General of Delegations, read the charter of principles and values of those acquiring Mexican nationality, including equality, inclusion, identity, commitment, respect for diversity, fairness and non-discrimination.

The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Natalia Saltalamacchia; Israel Soberanis Nogueda; Rosario Graham Zapata, Director General of Legal Affairs; and Pedro Lichtle Fregoso, Director General of the Foreign Service and Human Resources.
