For Mexico, the Dual Year will begin with President Enrique Peña Nieto’s State visit to Germany on April 11-12, 2016 and, for Germany, with Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s visit to Mexico on June 6, 2016.

In 2015, Mexico and Germany created a binational commission for joint collaboration and the Mexico-Germany Dual Year is part of this initiative. It provides a unique opportunity to strengthen and give impetus to the bilateral relationship by putting in place a broad, cross-cutting program that promotes Mexico in Germany and Germany in Mexico.

The program will include various cooperation projects, exchanges, promotion and political dialogue, all of which will benefit our societies and deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries. The activities will promote creativity, innovation, productivity, sustainable development, and focus on three areas:

·       Trade, investment and tourism

·       Education, science and innovation

·       Art and creative industries

The Mexican Foreign Ministry, through AMEXCID and in close collaboration with the Mexican embassy in Germany is coordinating the activities of the participating national institutions: Economy Ministry/ProMéxicoEducation Ministry/CONACYT, Tourism Ministry/CTMP and the Culture Ministry.
