Mexican cuisine is inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. At the inauguration of #REC2016, talented Mexican chefs served up samples of the best tacos from various regions in Mexico.
Mexican cuisine has established itself as an economic platform of broad social benefit. "Food is in fashion and Mexico plays a key role in this global trend,” said Nicolás Vale at the presentation of the Policy to Promote National Cuisine to the ambassadors and consuls.
Foreign Secretary Ruiz Massieu (@ruizmassieu) remarked that “Mexican chefs have been and are great ambassadors"of Mexico’s cuisine.
#REC2016 provides an opportunity to promote Mexico’s culinary wealth and diversity and to showcase why Mexican cuisine was added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2010. This place of honor is shared only with the Mediterranean diet and French and Japanese cuisine (as customary social practices).
