With the theme "Toward an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy,” the G20 will plan new paths for economic growth to complement the traditional strategies (fiscal, monetary and macroeconomic policy). China has proposed exploring new growth models that are based on innovation, the digital economy, the new industrial revolution and structural reforms.

The goal of the meeting will be to make global economic and financial governance more effective and efficient by strengthening the reform of global financial institutions—especially the International Monetary Fund—to achieve a more stable, resilient, inclusive, “green,” transparent financial system that is sufficiently solvent to cope with emergency situations. The urgent need to strengthen international cooperation to fight corruption and contribute to the better governance of global energy is also recognized.
