The Foreign Ministry hosted the inauguration
of the meeting to define Mexico’s 2016-2018 Open Government Partnership (OGP)
Action Plan. The purpose of the meeting is to
achieve a high-level commitment among the three branches of government,
autonomous bodies and civil society.
This is the third action plan put
together under the leadership of the Tripartite Technical Secretariat (the
OGP’s governing body in Mexico), composed of the Civil Society Coordinating
Committee, the National Institute for Transparency, the Federal Institute for Access
to Information and Personal Data Protection and the Mexican government.
An essential part of the Action Plan
is that the commitments that are adopted align the principles of open
government with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are:
- Human Rights and strengthening the rule of law
- Gender Equality
- National Anticorruption System
- Governance of natural resources and climate change
- Poverty and Inequality
- Public services
The inauguration was led by the
Secretary for Public Administration, Virgilio Andrade, and the Undersecretary
for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights of the Foreign Ministry, Miguel Ruiz
Cabañas. Participants included representatives
of autonomous bodies and civil society organizations.
