The heads of the Foreign
Ministry and the National Electoral
Institute (INE) signed an agreement
to issue voter registration cards to Mexicans living abroad.
After over a year of working together, the INE and the Foreign Ministry have agreed to begin the process of
issuing voter registration cards to Mexican citizens living abroad, in
compliance with the Mexican General Law of Institutions and Electoral
Procedures of our country.
The agreement is one
more step toward guaranteeing that Mexicans born in another country or who, for
whatever reason, had to leave ours, can exercise their political rights, especially
the right to vote. Voting by Mexicans abroad is a big step towards the
democratic consolidation of our country.
