A convention to provide training to raise awareness of the human rights of the indigenous population was signed in El Mezquital, Durango. Another goal will be to help address the complaints received by CNDH and to give impetus to implementing the recommendations, precautionary measures and decisions of international organizations.

The cooperation agreement was signed by the Interior Ministry, the National Human Rights Commission and the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples.

Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu signed as witness of honor, given that one of the convention’s goals is to address the human rights recommendations and rulings of international organizations.

More than 3,000 representatives of Mexico’s indigenous population attended the signing ceremony, as well as Interior Secretary Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, the National Ombudsman, Luis Raúl González Pérez, and CDI Director Nuvia Mayorga Delgado.
