The worst enemies for health are poverty and ignorance, however, these last two along with the sickness, frequently travel on the same train, so Mexico has to keep working in all conditions for health, said Mexico´s Minister of Health, doctor Jose Narro Robles.

During the opening of the XVI Binational Health Week, Narro Robles said that the Ministry in his charge has a full commitment with all Mexicans, with those living in and out the country, because health is essential for the development of people and communities, its absence obstructs the full potential of individuals and progress of society.

Referring to migration, he said it is irreversible, so it is not possible to conceive the intention to facilitate or promote isolation, and less in an interconnected world in which we search for greater communication and exchange.

Migrants, despite adversity, facilitate the relationship, communication and exchange between societies and with full conviction to succeed, because they are people committed to their tasks, who proudly represent Mexico with their labor and dedication, said the Minister of Health.

In Tonatico, State of Mexico in Mexico, one of the municipalities of this entity with the largest migration, and before representatives of societies of migrants from Mexico and the United States, he stressed that the government of President Enrique Peña Nieto is committed with all migrants inside and outside the country.

"The heads of the Ministries of Mexico´s Government have clear instructions from the President to care for the needs of Mexicans out of the country," he said.

Before the state governor, Eruviel Avila, doctor Narro said that health is a great equalizer, "if we want to combat inequality, we need to raise the level of health of the population, especially the most vulnerable and the poor ones".

Finally, he thanked those who for 16 years have contributed to the Binational Health Weeks, which also involved Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Oaxaca and Zacatecas, among others, entities of Mexico that are characterized by their migration.

In 2015, 780 thousand health events were organized, including exhibitions, conferences, lectures and sporting events. There, 60,000 screening and health services were offered.

As part of the opening ceremony, the Health Fair installed, where are held various activities for disease prevention and health promotion, such as diabetes, HIV, tuberculosis and influenza, among others, and are performed by measuring glucose levels settled , cholesterol, body mass index, blood pressure, HIV, breast exams, Pap smears, dental checkups, vision, bone density, mental health, flu vaccines, among others.

In addition, the Minister of Health led the inauguration of the Health Center "The Audience” that was built with federal and state resources.

They attended as guests of honor the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, doctor Pablo Kuri Morales; the Minister of Health of Mexico State, Cesar Gomez Nomar; the representative of Mexicans Abroad, Eunice Rendon, and of PAHO / WHO in Mexico, Gerry Eijkemans.
