Among the main illnesses associated with this addiction are Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), heart problems and different types of cancer, especially the lung.

These pathologies are caused by the inhalation of tobacco smoke, which contains more than seven thousand chemicals, of which about 70 are carcinogenic.

According to the Survey on Drug Use, Alcohol and Tobacco 2016, in Mexico there are 14.9 million smokers.

The best way to avoid these diseases is prevention, so "you should say no to your consumption".

At the commemoration of the World No Tobacco Day 2017 "Tobacco, a threat to development" held on May 31, Ministry of Health, José Narro Robles, pointed out that Mexico attends the call of international organizations to maintain and strengthen the strategies to combat this addiction.

With these, there is a commitment from government structures, public authorities, civil society organizations, the academic community and, in general, from all sectors with this cause.
