By direct instructions from the Secretary of Health, Dr. Jorge Alcocer Varela, all the Institutes of the Mexican Health Sector are coordinated in the response to the emergency caused by the explosion of an illegal fuel pipeline in Tlahuelilpan, Hidalgo, which has left many people injured and lamentable human losses.

Currently, the IMSS (Mexican Institute of Social Security), the ISSSTE (Institute of Social Security for the Workers of the State) , the medical services of PEMEX (Mexican Petroleum) , the DIF (National System for Integral Family Development) and all the state health services from each state in the country, work together under the directions of the Secretary of Health to offer the best medical care to the injured and provide psychological support and accompaniment to their relatives.

At a press conference, Secretary Alcocer Varela announced that a special operation was launched to assist injured persons, which consists of the formation of two teams of the best specialists in the country, who assess in a timely manner each patient and determine, according to the severity and particular needs, the hospital in which they must be cared for, with the purpose that they are in the best conditions and their lives are saved.

He explained that each of the groups consists of 10 doctors: one group works with the people hospitalized in the medical units of Mexico City, and the other in the state of Hidalgo.

"We want them to feel accompanied and assure their loved ones that they are in the best hands and that no resources will be spared to save their lives, that is our priority and that is of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador," the Secretary stressed.
