During his inauguration of the San Pablo del Monte General Hospital, President Enrique Peña Nieto observed a minute of silence as a sign of respect for all those who lost their lives in the events in the town of Tultepec, State of Mexico .
“You have all heard on the news that there was a large explosion at a fireworks market”. The president announced that according to the latest reports, 32 people were killed.
He declared that, “They were working to support their families and instead lost their lives during the explosion”.
He said that yesterday he instructed the Health Secretariat to ensure that the various health institutions provide medical care for those who were injured, “Some of whom are in critical condition”.
The instruction, he said, is quite clear: provide the best possible care for the injured and their families. "This morning, 40 people had been admitted to various hospitals," he explained.
“I will be monitoring the care provided for the patients,” he said.
President Peña Nieto said that the government of Mexico State will issue reports and update the figures for these unfortunate events.
