• .65 percent of the jobs listed earn over two minimum wages. In the previous six years only 30 percent of the new jobs earned over two minimum wages, he said.
  • 86 percent of the jobs that have been generated are permanent, up from 60 percent during the previous administration, he said.
  • Last November, 40,000 more jobs than the average number created in November over the past ten years were created, he declared.

As he led the launch of the Digital Medical Appointments in the IMSS today, President Enrique Peña Nieto said that for the first time in the history of Mexico, over one million more formal jobs were created in the first eleven months of the year.

“For the first time in the history of our country, between January and November of this year, one million jobs  were created,” he said.

He noted that, “This brings the number of jobs created in the four years from this administration to 2.6 million”.

The president said that, “65 percent of the new jobs that have been generated in this administration earn over two minimum wages,” which contrasts with the average of the previous six years, when only 30 percent of new jobs earned over two minimum wages.

He added that “86 percent of the jobs that have been created are permanent, up from 60 percent during the previous administration”.

”Today we are creating more, better paid jobs to improve the development of our country,” which, he said, “should fill us with pride”.

The president declared that, “This has become the government of employment. No other government has equaled the number of jobs created  in this administration”.

He said that last November, 40,000 more jobs than the average number for November over the past ten years were created”.

He explained the benefits associated with having formal employment: "The benefits include having health insurance, work risk insurance, disability insurance; in the event of an accident, you can retire with a pension if you are unable to return to work; retirement, unemployment or old age insurance; retirement insurance and the various social benefits that are overlooked such as the fact that rightholders can attend the institution’s sports and vacation centers”.

THE PLATFORM LAUNCHED WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO PROCESS 500,000 APPOINTMENTS DAILY

The president said that with the new digital application, the IMSS will be able to arrange an appointment with the family doctor "through your phone or tablet”. He said that the platform launched will make it possible to process nearly 500,000 appointments daily.

“This will allow them to avoid the time it would take them to make an appointment. It will allow them to spend more time with their families or engaged in other activities,” he added.

He said,  “What we are doing through the digitization of services provided by the Social Security and other government agencies is making life easier for users, for the Mexican population”.

He noted that nowadays in the Mexican Social Security Institute, “Nearly 8 out of every 10 digital services can be done digitally”.

He recalled that at the beginning of the administration, four years ago, “None of the services provided by the Social Security could be done digitally; they were all face to face, from membership, through incorporation to the payment of worker-employer contributions”.

WITH DIGITAL IMSS, WE HAVE REDUCED TRANSACTION COSTS AND ELIMINATED UNNECESSARY VISITS TO THE OFFICES, RESULTING IN 4.7 BILLION PESOS IN SAVINGS: MIKEL ARRIOLA

Mikel Arriola Peñalosa, Director General of the IMSS, said that through the IMSS Digital application, “Over one million digital procedures have been completed. The app has already been downloaded more than 350,000 times, making it the most frequently downloaded application, with the highest number of completed Federal Government  transactions”.

After explaining the tools of the application, he said that,  on President Peña Nieto’s instructions, the digitalization process will continue so that the patient can request, through mobile phones and tablets, an appointment with the family doctor. This option, launched today, enables the government to continue providing people with access to health services.

The new functionality of the mobile application, he explained, “Simplifies the rights holder’s interaction with the Institute by providing a new means of gaining access to doctor’s appointments. This brings the IMSS increasingly closer to people”.

He added that through the Digital Strategy, “We have been able to create savings, reduce transaction costs and eliminate unnecessary visits to IMSS offices. This translates into 4.7 billion pesos in savings measured in opportunity costs”, and added that, “18 of the 33 procedures related to the affiliation and collection have already been digitized, representing an increase of 78 percent”.
