- I will continue to act with great determination and enormous commitment. With enormous commitment due to what is a privilege for me: being Mexicans’ president ":
- I am the first to fully assume my responsibility. I'm the one who makes decisions, and is fully aware of why I have taken them, and will continue to act in that way, with just one thing in mind: Mexico and all Mexicans, he said
- All critical voices, and the voices of opposition that sometimes derisive will always be welcome. They are welcome because we are part of a democracy, and democracy has room for all forms of expressions, freedom of expression and opinions that disagree with certain positions, he said.
Earlier today, as he delivered the "Toma de Zacatecas" Centennial Ecopark and the houses in the Youth Housing Program, President Enrique Peña Nieto said that as president, “My sole commitment is to protect Mexicans, and think about this country and Mexico’s future”.
He said that sometimes he has made political decisions that have caused enormous political controversy but, "I have only taken them with Mexico and its future in mind”.
“I will continue to act with great determination and enormous commitment. With enormous commitment because of what is a privilege for me: being Mexicans’ president,” he said.
“I am the first to fully assume my responsibility. I'm the one who makes decisions, and is fully aware of why I have taken them, and will continue to act in that way, with just one thing in mind: Mexico and all Mexicans,” he said.
And everything we have promoted has been thought of on the basis of that goal: structural changes, Education Reform, designed to provide young people with better quality education; economic structural reforms designed to enable Mexico to grow and provide more opportunities, particularly for young people, especially, who will be key actors tomorrow,” he said.
The president stressed that, “Critical voices, opposition voices that are sometimes derisive will always be welcome. They are welcome because we are part of a democracy, and democracy has room for all forms of expressions, freedom of expression and opinions that disagree with certain positions”.
He noted that, like the slogan in his Fourth State of the Union address, “People rarely mention the good things, but they count for a lot; and they are very important for those that benefit from them”. He said that his government is, “Trying to influence and transform the lives of many families in our country”.
He invited society to visit the website so that, “People can quickly and effectively find out about the progress we've made in four years”.
At the event, held at the Open Air Theatre of the Ecological, Cultural and Sports Park of the Zacatecas-Guadalupe Metropolitan Area, known as the "Toma de Zacatecas" Centennial Ecopark, President Peña Nieto thanked Governor Miguel Alonso Reyes, who is about to complete his term of office.
I would like to thank him, he added, because, “In the time we shared in the State Government and the Federal Government, we joined forces and understood each other very well, coordinating tasks to achieve shared goals for the benefit of the people of Zacatecas”.
He also noted that the Ecopark delivered today is part of the effort by the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources, “To restore and to build environmental spaces that are also recreational”.
He explained that it is an effort involving various secretariats, “As regards crime prevention, which has enabled us to restore various lost, abandoned spaces and provide people with healthy recreational areas”.
At the event, the president also handed over the keys to houses in the Youth Housing Program, and the State Forest and Soil Inventory.
He said that through the Youth Housing Program, during this Administration, more than half a million credits have been awarded to young people so that they can purchase their own homes.
At the end of the event, President Peña Nieto toured the facilities of the Ecological, Cultural and Sports Park.
PRESIDENT EPN HAS THE VISION AND INTEGRITY TO DEFEND THE NATION'S INTERESTS: GOVERNOR MIGUEL ALEJANDRO ALONSO REYES
State governor Miguel Alonso Reyes thanked President Enrique Peña Nieto for, "His vision and integrity in defending the highest interests of the nation, always giving priority to the development of the people of Mexico”. He congratulated him on the delivery of the Fourth State of the Union Address, which, he said, describes the progress and results his administration has achieved for the benefit of the country.
He said that he has shared his term of office with a president with broad state vision who has undertaken unprecedented transformations for the benefit of Mexico.
He told President Enrique Peña Nieto that since coming to power, he has proved that teamwork and combined efforts always multiply results.
He reported that the "Toma de Zacatecas" Centennial Ecopark is a space dedicated to training, recreation and sport, which translates into benefits for the population of Zacatecas and enriches the state’s supply of tourist attractions.
He explained that the100 hectare space, set in the Zacatecas-Guadalupe-Veta Grande Metropolitan Area, is the state's largest urban park and has been declared a protected natural area. It also seeks to promote research and disseminate environmental matters.
"With the opening of this public work, we have taken a great step forward in which development, environmental care and education go hand in hand," he said.
He also reported that through the delivery of the Ecopark, President Enrique Peña Nieto is complying fully with its commitments to Zacatecas, as a sign of its strong commitment to ensure that families and, especially, Zacatecan youth achieve a better quality of life and integral development.
Meanwhile, he reported that the government has launched the Youth Housing Program, which offers housing loans to young couples with limited resources. “On this occasion, we delivered 200 houses to young residents of Zacatecas from different municipalities, who would otherwise have found it extremely difficult to obtain access to decent housing and thus provide stability and certainty for their present and future,” he said.
CREATE SPACES TO BRING CITIZENS CLOSER TO NATURE AND UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF PRESERVING IT, EPN’S COMMITMENT: PACCHIANO ALAMÁN
Rafael Pacchiano Alamán, Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, said that one of the main enemies of the environment is the lack of knowledge of natural resources and the environmental services they provide. He explained that this is why, since President Enrique Peña Nieto was a candidate, he promised to create spaces so that citizens could be closer to nature and understand the importance of preserving it.
Accordingly, four commitments were signed, in the States of Zacatecas, Mexico and Colima and also to recover various green areas in Mexico City.
He said that 600 million pesos have been invested to meet the president's commitment to environmental matters regarding the recovery of green areas. Zacatecas Park is the second commitment that has already been fulfilled, he said.
He announced that the third one will be met in December of this year in the State of Mexico, and that100 percent of the presidential commitments will be fulfilled by the first quarter of next year at the latest.
He explained that the Ecopark has over 100 hectares, adding that various arid ecosystems representative of Mexico have been restored. The Ecopark also boasts an environmental nursery and an Environmental Education Center. A efficient system for managing all the rainwater captured by the park has been incorporated to be able to maintain it.
