· That is four times the number of jobs generated during the same period in the previous administration, he said.

· He led the event in which the certificate for the two millionth job was handed over.

President Enrique Peña Nieto announced today that by June of this year, 2,031,000 jobs had been created during this administration, “A record figure, good news that it is worth appraising to see what it represents”.

He stressed the importance of evaluating this news, “Because it means that in the three years and seven months of this administration, more jobs than ever before have been created, and above all, spaces of opportunity for more Mexicans”.

He said that this number of jobs, “Is four times the number created in the same period of the previous administration, and if we look back further to the previous administration, at this point in the government, not only had less jobs been created but they had been lost; the employment figure registered in the country at that time was fewer than 200,000 jobs”.

The president noted that of the 2,031,000 jobs have been generated, almost half, 41 percent, are for women. “Women are increasingly incorporated into productive activity,” he added.

He said that one of every three jobs created has been for young people between the ages of 20 and 34, “Because what the government has proposed is to open up more spaces of opportunities for young people.” In other words, he added, “Many young people today are being incorporated into productive activity, and finding an employment option.”

He noted that the daily efforts of every young person, sometimes inadvertently, “Is contributing to Mexico’s continuing to move forward and grow”.

President Peña Nieto said that having achieved this record figure in job creation in the country should be attributed to workers, “Because they have studied, they have been trained, they have attended educational institutions”. Moreover, he said, “It is because of the investors and entrepreneurs who take their chances with Mexico, which continue to invest in the country and see opportunities to grow with Mexico and open up productive spaces and employment opportunities.”

He added that it is also, “Thanks to the efforts of governments, who have charted a path of implementing structural reforms”.

If something allows productive investment and job creation in Mexico to continue, it is precisely the implementation of structural reforms," he said.

The president said that labor reform makes the market more flexible and makes it easier to join productive activity, “Which is why we are seeing that job generation is higher than the rate of economic growth we are experiencing; the rate of growth of job generation in recent years has been nearly 3.8 per cent.”

He said that this rate is higher than that registered in other countries such as the United States of America, where it is just over 1 percent; and Brazil, where the employment rate has decreased.

"Although our economy has not reached the levels we would wish in a difficult and complex global environment, our country is distinguished by the fact that it is growing and has solid macroeconomic conditions that make it attractive and encourage investments to keep coming,” he said.

President Peña Nieto expressed his hope that everyone's collective efforts, “Would allow us to continue creating more job opportunities, greater investment and greater dynamism in our economy, and above all, for this to translate into the objective governments seek: to create conditions of welfare and quality of life for our people. “

During the event, the president gave Lizeth Garcia Alarcon, Process Auditor of the Robert Bosch Toluca plant, her certificate as the two millionth worker. The president subsequently toured the Robert Bosch plant facilities, where he greeted its workers.

WELL STRUCTURED REFORMS YIELD RESULTS, AS TWO MILLION WORKERS KNOW: ALFONSO NAVARRETE PRIDA

Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare Alfonso Navarrete Prida declared that, “Well-structured reforms yield results. Two million workers know this and 30 million Mexicans who have social security prove this”.

Two million jobs, he added, have been created in three years and seven months, as opposed to two million three hundred thousand jobs in the whole of the previous administration. "At the halfway point, we have practically achieved the same number of enrolments in the IMSS as during the whole of the previous administration”.

He declared that, “This is not a magical thing, the point is that there has been a consistent public policy that makes it possible to be transparently accountable and provide results”.

He said that the government boldly assumed the challenges that involved changing the country as regards tax, labor,  flexibilization of employment, regulatory improvement, service and quality in the IMSS; support from state governments and talent to attract investments as well as the creation of new firms. All this, “Allowed us to break a record today,” he said.

TODAY, EMPLOYMENT IS GROWING AT TWICE THE RATE OF THE ECONOMY THANKS TO THE COUNTRY’S SWEEPING REFORMS: MIKEL ARRIOLA

Mikel Arriola Peñalosa, Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), today stressed that employment is growing at twice the rate of the economy. This means, he said, that President Peña Nieto’s transformative actions, such as structural reforms, the sound management of public finances, and programs for the digitalization of procedures, have generated this growth,  as reflected by the figures.

He said that June of this year was the fourth month with the highest job creation in history, with 68,000 jobs. He added that so far this year, 442,000 jobs have been created, seven thousand more than during the same period last year.

He explained that in the past 12 months, 652,000 jobs have been created, 94 percent of which are permanent employment. Mikel Arriola stressed that, for the IMSS, the additional revenue has been 26 percent, representing 50 billion pesos more to address the rising costs of IMSS, whose deficit has dropped by 60 percent.

These 50 billion pesos mean that we will be able to continue to fulfill the presidential instruction, “To provide more surgeries and more consultations every day, pay more pensions and be much more proactive in generating employment,” he said.

THE BUSINESS SECTOR WILL NOT FAIL THESE YOUNG PEOPLE; WE WILL CONTINUE  CREATING JOBS AND INVESTING IN THE COUNTRY: CONCAMIN

Manuel Vega Herrera, President of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN), said that the announcement of two million jobs is a joint achievement in whole corporate sector, the workers’ sector, the government sector and the academic sector.

He said that despite being in a complex international environment, “Mexico is growing and has those results. That speaks of our country’s economic strength.”

Manuel Herrera highlighted three issues related to achieving this success and obtaining more in the future:

First: “A cordial dialogue in a tripartite spirit in which the workers’ sector, the government sector and entrepreneurs have built a peaceful climate of employment that today allows us to have these results.”

Second: “Structural reforms have represented a breakthrough in our country, which we must continue to support and implement, and in the private sector, we have the commitment to these reforms that have transformed Mexico, Mr. President.”

Third: “Within the framework of the great alliance for an industrial policy, and taking advantage of the National Productivity Committee, high-level groups have been created comprising the academic sector, workers, the government sector and entrepreneurs working together to generate more and more job opportunities for Mexicans”.

The President of CONCAMIN said that, “In the business sector, we would like to inform young people who are hoping to fulfill their dreams that we will not fail them; we will continue to generate jobs and continue to invest in this country. In the future, Mr. President, we hope to create many more millions of jobs; industrialists believe in Mexico, which is why we create in Mexico”.
