·        When tourists choose our country, they are not only telling us they like Mexico, they are telling us they trust Mexico, he said.

·        The tourism policy implemented by President Enrique Peña Nieto’s government has restored Mexico to its rightful place as one of the world’s most important tourist destinations, he said.

At a joint press conference with Secretary of Tourism Enrique de la Madrid Cordero and President and CEO of the International Entertainment Corporation Alejandro Soberón Kuri, General Coordinator of Social Communication of the President’s Office and Government Spokesman Eduardo Sánchez Hernández said that, “Mexico is an increasingly competitive and reliable world class destination, both for those who visit us and for those who invest in this important industry.”

He said that when tourists choose our country, they are not only telling us they like Mexico They are telling us they trust Mexico.”

He noted that thanks to this confidence, our country has regained its place among the ten most important tourist destinations in the world, according to the World Tourism Organization World Tourism Barometer.

A prime example of this trust, he declared, was the return of Formula 1 last year, whose organization achieved the highest recognition by the International Automobile Federation. “The economic and sporting success of this event proved that coordinated work between government and private enterprise yields great results,” he declared.

The government spokesman declared that a record number of international tourists was recorded in 2015, exceeding 32 million travelers, meaning that tourism has been revitalized as a source of job creation, foreign exchange, infrastructure, and international projection of our country.

Noting that, “The tourism policy implemented by President Enrique Peña Nieto’s government has restored Mexico to its rightful place as one of the world’s top tourist destinations,” he stressed that the keys to our country’s recovery of its place as one of the 10 most important tourist destinations in the world are, “Undoubtedly the world-class infrastructure and services that exist in Mexico, the variety and quality of its tourist attractions  and, of course, the ability, professionalism and commitment of those involved in the industry.”

Eduardo Sánchez said, “There are more and more tourists in the world, more and more places to visit and people are increasingly opting for Mexico.”

He said that with earnings of $17.5 billion USD from overseas visitors, the tourism industry accounts for 8.5 percent of gross domestic product, creates more than nine million jobs and gives us a sense of pride at being able to organize the best world events, such as Formula 1, or the First Game of the NFL Professional American Football Season, which returned to Mexico after 10 years.

The success of our country as a tourist destination, “Is not a question of geography or luck, it is the result of a vision of work and results. As a result, tourism in Mexico is experiencing a permanent high season,” he declared.
