· Penchyna Grub has extensive experience in the legal, financial, social and housing sector.

· The new director will contribute to making the housing sector an engine of the domestic market and the national economy.

President Enrique Peña Nieto will submit the nomination of  David Penchyna Grub as the new Director General of the Institute to the General Assembly of Infonavit, if the Senate grants him license for that purpose.

David Penchyna Grub holds a degree in law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with graduate degrees in public policy and political science from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and the Universidad Iberoamericana.

Among other positions, he was Director of Coordination of Housing, Sectoral General Coordinator of the Ministry of Social Development (SEDESOL) and Assistant Director General of Infonavit. He also served as Minister of Economic Development and Social Development of the State of Hidalgo.

He was a federal delegate in the LVIII and the LXI Legislature. He is currently senator for Hidalgo in the LXIII Legislature.

The president has indicated that the new director general of the Institute should continue to promote actions for workers in Mexico, under the National Housing Policy; by helping to make this sector an engine of the domestic market and the national economy.

The new Infonavit director will continue the “An Extra Room” strategy to combat overcrowding and increase the added value of beneficiaries’ homes-built with one room between 2002 and 2012-; continue the policy of social inclusion through credits to adapt housing for people with motor or visual disability; maintain the program to restore housing units; and develop schemes for mortgage mobility and support for mothers who are also heads of household.
