President Enrique Peña Nieto delivered the "Toma de Zacatecas" Centennial Ecopark and funds from the Youth Housing Program to enable young workers ages 18 to 29 years to purchase or improve their homes.
The Ecopark is part of efforts by the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) to restore and build environmental spaces that will also serve as recreational areas.
This is one of the most emblematic environmental and cultural projects in Mexico in recent years, and is distinguished by its spaces to raise awareness about environmental care.
It has an Environmental Education Center, where courses and interactive workshops will be given, an outdoor auditorium and an area for temporary exhibitions and a cultural center is currently under construction.
It is equipped with a games area, outdoor gyms, camping areas and paths for hiking, cycling or horseback riding.
“I am very pleased to be able to accompany you today for the opening of this park, which is the fulfillment of another commitment”. EPN
Support for young people: Youth housing
Funds from the Youth Housing Program were delivered to enable young workers ages 18 to 29 years to purchase or improve their homes.
Today, there are more young people studying at high school or college, who are also affiliated to the Mexican Social Security Institute.
With this program, new entrepreneurs, who have no credit history, will receive assistance to set up their own business.
In Zacatecas, 200 young families have already benefitted from this program. During this administration, 1 in 4 housing loans have been granted to young people.
In four years of government, more than half a million loans have been granted to young people for home purchases (INFONAVIT, FONHAPO, FOVISSSTE).
"In fact, there have been more than three million, 3.4 million loans for home purchases or improvements has been granted by this administration, particularly for young people, for the population ages 18 to 29”: EPN
"For the president, believe me, my only commitment is to protect Mexicans, and think about this country and Mexico’s future”. EPN
