During the ceremony, the national anthems of Mexico and France were played. The Mexican president reviewed the Guard of Honor accompanied by Christiane Taubira, French Minister of Justice and General Hervé Charpentier, Military Governor of Paris, and saluted the flag of the French Republican Guard.

After the ceremony, President Peña Nieto, accompanied by his wife, Angélica Rivera de Peña, and members of his official delegation, visited Napoleon’s tomb at the St. Louis Cathedral.

The Mexican president subsequently traveled to the official residence of President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, with whom he held a private meeting.

Afterwards, he visited the official residence of President of the National Assembly Claude Bartolone, whom he also met in private.

In the morning, at the headquarters of the House of Latin America, President Peña Nieto led the “Strategic Academic Scientific Mexico-France Partnership” event, at which various agreements that will strengthen the relationship between the two countries were signed.

There, President Peña Nieto greeted a delegation of doctors from the Mexican Social Security Institute as part of the “With All Your Heart” Program for treating myocardial infarction and providing liver transplants, which traveled to France to exchange successful experiences in health, in order to improve the medical services provided by the IMSS.
