For the past 41 years, the Institute of the National Fund for Workers’ Consumption (INFONACOT) has provided credit for the country's workers.

In order for INFONACOT to fulfill its social mission, through Labor Reform, this administration made it compulsory for work centers to become affiliated to the Institute. Through Financial Reform, the government achieved budgetary self-reliance, substantially expanding its lending capacity.

These changes have translated into record achievements:

• There are more than 272,000 affiliated centers, in other words, they have increased more than fourfold since the start of this administration.

• INFONACOT has granted 2.7 million loans, 60% more than during the same period in the previous administration.

Half of these have been for workers earning less than three minimum wages; in other words, those who are not regarded as creditworthy by other institutions.

• The amount of loans granted totals 32.8 billion pesos, 76% more than during the same period in the previous administration.
